Mr. Evergreen - Dev Anand
Our 'Evergreen' hero is no more,
Just heard the sad news a little while ago.
Dev Anand was one of my favourite heroes,
So thought I'd write a few lines to express my sorrow.
Dharam Dev Pishori Anand born in 26th September 1923,
Acted in over 110 Hindi movies.
He acted in his first movie 'Hum Ek Hain' in 1946,
But only in 1948 with 'Ziddi' gave his first hit.
Followed by hits like 'Baazi', Aandhiyan, Nau do gyarah, Pocket Maar,
And Mr. Evergreen continued to do so with C.I.D. , Solva Saal, Kala Pani and Kala Bazar.
How can we forget movies like Guide,Jewel Thief and Johnny Mera Naam,
And his directorial venture Hare Rama Hare Krishna with debutante Zeenat Aman.
Dev Anand had his own suave style with his tuft of hair above his forehead and scarves round his neck,
He was rightly known as the Indian Gregory Peck.
His zest for life and undying passion to work was a quality so admirable,
To do so till 88 was extremely credible.
Let us not mourn the death of this acting great,
But the Gods above congratulate,
As they can enjoy Dev Anand's presence too,
Where his acting and directing will still continue.
So let us instead pray for his Nav Ketan -new life,
Where he continues to act and direct movies with The Kapoors, Kumars, Guru Dutt and Nutan for the rest of eternity with Kalpana Karthik, his beloved wife.
